In the next 3 to 5 years, Bulgaria will experience a shortage of more than 250,000 specialists with higher education. For the past 8 years, Bulgaria has missed the opportunity, which a number of EU countries have taken advantage of, to conclude an agreement with the largest exporter of workforce-India, Dr Petar Velev, Chairman of the Indian-Bulgarian Business Chamber, said in an interview for BTA.
''The agreement in question is a framework document that sets out all the main points on migration and mobility related to the issuance of a work visa, according to the qualifications and specific jobs sought in the country’’, BTA said. Velev gives the example of Germany, which has set the condition that job applicants must be trained in India beforehand for the respective position. India itself wants to ensure that there will be no irregular migration. If someone does not comply with the law in the host country, the Indian authorities are committed to returning them to India, said Petar Velev. He pointed out that at the moment, there are sporadic cases of Indian workers who have chosen Bulgaria for their career.
