Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev denied the accusations that he had exerted pressure on Bulgaria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lachezara Stoeva to abstain during the voting of the UN resolution condemning the genocide in Srebrenica.

“There is no Srebrenica scandal, someone is trying to create a scandal,” the caretaker prime minister said, and added that this country supports the UN resolution, and that he is not going to make any comment on the “criminal leakage of documents in an unfinished phase of the decision-making process”.

Dimitar Glavchev was adamant that he was not going to be a part of “pre-election shows” organized in the last week before the elections. He also rejected the idea of appearing in parliament for a hearing on the matter, something We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria and Vice President Iliana Iotova called for.

Dimitar Glavchev made this statement in the Sofia suburb of Gorna Banya where he gave the start to the activities connected with the clearing of the ground for the construction of a National Children’s Hospital. This phase is expected to take 6-7 months, and the construction of the hospital itself – several years.
