Sofia University remains among the best 750 higher education institutions in the world

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" ranked 741-750 in the QS World University Rankings of the most prestigious universities in the world for 2024. Sofia University has been part of the ranking since 2014. 

This year's ranking includes 1,498 universities in 104 countries, assessed according to various criteria including academic reputation, scientific reputation, reputation among employers, student-faculty ratio, number of citations per faculty, number of foreign students and teachers. In 2024, three new indicators were also introduced - sustainability, employment outcomes and international research network. At the top of the ranking stands the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by the universities of Cambridge and Oxford. Sofia Univeristy has marked a decline in performance, as in 2022 it was in 561st place. There are no other Bulgarian higher education institutions in the World University Rankings.
