The new speaker of the parliament in North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, has met in Skopje with the Bulgarian ambassador to the country, Angel Angelov. Congratulating Gashi on his election as Speaker of the Parliament, Angelov expressed confidence that the new parliaments in Bulgaria and North Macedonia will establish good and intensive communication in order to open the country's European path, BTA reports.

EU Ambassador Skopje David Geer called on the new government in North Macedonia to accept the constitutional changes and pointed out that he did not expect any changes in the negotiation framework, BGNES reports. After nearly two years of negotiations with Bulgaria, an agreement was reached which opened the process for European integration of North Macedonia, but with it the country assumes certain obligations. Part of this agreement are  changes to the Constitution to include people who define themselves as Bulgarians under the protection of the Constitution itself. The situation has not changed, Geer said.
