NSI: Bulgaria Records Second Consecutive Month of Deflation

According to data from the National Statistical Institute, Bulgaria experienced a monthly inflation rate of -0.2% in May 2024. Year-on-year inflation from May 2024 compared to December 2023 stands at 0.4%, while the average annual inflation rate for the period June 2023 to May 2024 versus June 2022-May 2023 is 5.1%.

The sectors with the largest price decreases include Communications (-1.5%), Entertainment and Culture (-1%), and Transport (-0.9%). Conversely, the sector with the largest price increase was alcohol and tobacco, rising by 1%.

In April 2024, the monthly inflation rate was recorded at -0.3%.
