On World Refugee Day - 20 June, the photo exhibition with refugee children entitled "Innocence without Borders" will be officially opened at 11:00 a.m. at Sofia Airport Terminal 2. The event is organized by UNICEF, the Embassy of Switzerland in Bulgaria, the State Agency for Refugees and Sofia Airport.

Photographers Dobrin Minkov and Nikolay Stoykov tell the stories of children and their families, as well as unaccompanied children from the newly opened Safe Zone for Unaccompanied Children in Harmanli, established by UNICEF, SAR and partners, with the support of Switzerland.

The exhibition is a call for solidarity, understanding and tolerance towards innocent children who set out on a journey and pay the ultimate price because of war, conflict or political instability. The exhibition can be seen until 20 July 2024.

In recent years, the escalation of international and internal conflicts has forced more than 50,000 people, including 13,000 children, to seek international protection in Bulgaria. Of these, more than 11,000 unaccompanied refugee children have sought protection in the country in the last 5 years.
