Almost 100 exhibits from the Museum of History Iskra in Kazanlak will be put on display at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the US until the end of the year, Kazanlak municipality has announced on Facebook.
The exposition in the US has been in the making for 4 years and will show the world the art of the ancient Thracians. Iskra is the wealthiest regional museum in Bulgaria, with over 70,000 original exhibits. The treasure hall exhibits the latest gold, silver and bronze finds from the Thracian places of worship and tombs in the region. They include the gold wreath that once belonged to the Thracian ruler Seuthes III, his helmet and knee protectors, a full gold and silver horse harness, as well as a rare collection of coins and other items of the Thracian era.
The bronze head of Seuthes III was on display at the J. Paul Getty Museum in 2015, attracting a great deal of interest.
