GERB leader Boyko Borissov expressed disappointment that Bulgaria does not yet have a position to present during the NATO summit, BNR reporter Daniel Inkov informed.
According to Borissov, the European Commission has issued a report on how Bulgaria has wasted time and billions when it comes to the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Unfortunately, the European funds are not used by the Bulgarians and the government started working with them after May, Borissov pointed out. A meeting at the highest level in NATO is coming up and we should have already had the position of Bulgaria, of the Foreign Ministry and whoever goes, should defend it, Borissov added.
Late yesterday, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev asked the National Assembly who will represent Bulgaria at the summit, which will be held from July 9 to 11th in Washington.
After the council in parliament this morning, MP from the "Vazrazhdane" party, Tsoncho Ganev, said that the National Assembly will not take a position on the topic who should represent Bulgaria at the NATO Summit in Washington. The position of "Vazrazhdane" is that the country can be represented at the forum by either the prime minister or the president, Ganev said.
That's why Vazrazhdane's position is that the president, who is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, should go because Bulgaria has no regular prime minister. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), for its part, was categorical that it did not want the president to go. The Velichie said that "in the end, let them decide and let the incumbent prime minister go". We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) also echoed the views of the DPS.
