A contractor has been selected to supply 35 electric railcars, Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov announced at the Green Transition Forum 4.0 in Sofia. The trains will be purchased with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, he said. The contractor will be the Polish company "Stadler Polska Sp. z o.o.", a subsidiary of the Swiss company "Stadler". The offered price is 322 million euros and the delivery period is 28 months, BGNES said.

Due to the complexity and specificity of the order, the Ministry opted for direct negotiations for the supply of the 35 electric railcars. "All this was done according to clear criteria and methodology, which were the same for all 4 companies that took part in the negotiations," explained the Minister. There is also a contract for the production of 9 shunting locomotives. The first shunter will arrive in Sofia next week.
