Bulgarian politicians and institutions have condemned the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

"We are deeply shocked by the horrific attack on former President Donald Trump during a campaign event. We express condolences to the victim and wish a full recovery to those injured in the attack", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The Council of Ministers also issued a statement: "We categorically condemn the horrific attack against former US President Donald Trump during his presidential campaign. Political violence is unacceptable and incompatible with democracy", the Council of Ministers wrote on Facebook.

President Rumen Radev emphasized that violence and hatred threaten the democratic process and are unacceptable. ''I express my condolences to the people of the United States for the innocent victim'', President Radev wrote in the social network X.

''We should be aware that hate speech only divides our societies", GERB leader Boyko Borissov wrote on Facebook. "In Bulgaria, the hate speech between politicians is becoming more and more acute and visible. The division between people is dangerous and will not lead to anything good'', Boyko Borissov wrote further.

We Continue the Change Co-chairman Kiril Petkov emphasized that violence can never be a solution to political differences.

According to the Co-Chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Delyan Peevski, democracy is an opportunity for a choice, not shooting the political opponent. "Political violence has no place in our society, especially in the 21st century, when we are called upon to resolve our differences through dialogue and respect," said the other co-chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Dzhevdet Chakarov.

"After the shooting at the Prime Minister of Slovakia, there was a shooting at Trump today. Vazrazhdane condemns political violence in all its forms'', a press statement of Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov reads.
