2,615 Leva (EUR 1,315) is the monthly cost of living for a family of three- two working adults and a child, reads the analysis of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB). CITUB presented data as of June 2024. The cost of living for a one-person household is 1,453 Leva (EUR 750). The subsistence income decreased with 0.1% on a monthly basis and increased with 3,6% on an annual basis.

We want to have a national definition of the living wage, announced quarterly by the national statistics, CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov said. This way, citizens will have an idea of how much money they need to live relatively well according to Bulgarian standards. The necessary income for food alone is 572 Leva (EUR 288) for a working person per month. This is 39.4% of the total income, said CITUB.
