The holder of the Bulgarian Cup Botev Plovdiv qualified for the second qualifying round of the football tournament UEFA Europa League after a 2-2 draw against Maribor, Slovenia. In the first match Botev Plovdiv won by 2-1.
In the 13th minute Maribor’s Jan Repas scored the first goal, and only two minutes into the second half Botev Plovdiv’s Christian Nwachukwu drew 1-1. After one hour of play Botev took the lead after Anthony Ujah scored – 2-1, and in the 80th minute the Slovenian team scored their second goal. Though with some difficulty, the Bulgarian team managed to withstand the pressure, and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Botev Plovdiv’s next match will be against Panathinaikos in Athens on 25 July.
