Bulgaria is ready with new military aid package for Ukraine (UPDATED)

The formation of the next aid package for Ukraine is at the final stage and it can be submitted to the Council of Ministers today, said caretaker Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov, who participated in a conference on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the creation of NATO, organized by the Atlantic Club in Sofia.

 

Ammunition and equipment that analysis has shown to be surplus or unnecessary for the Bulgarian army will be offered to Ukraine for assistance.


Bulgaria supports the entire package of measures to help Ukraine in order to be able to defend itself against Russian aggression, to achieve full interoperability of the armed forces and to move closer to membership in the Alliance, Zapryanov said, quoted by BTA. The minister pointed out that at the NATO meeting in Washington, the country supported the decisions to strengthen the deterrence and defence potential of the Alliance.


Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev has indicated that Bulgaria will exceed the 2% of GDP target for defence spending this year, reaching 2.18% of GDP.
