Bulgarian students have won 4 medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad in Saudi Arabia, held from 21 to 30 July. They won one gold, one bronze and two silver medals.

The gold was won by 12th grader Victor Lilov, the Science Olympic Team Association said. The silver medals went to 12th graders Preslav Georgiev and Yavor Hristov, while the bronze medal went to 10th grader Nikola Ninkov.

The four medalists are from the Sofia Mathematical High School with supervisors from the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at Sofia University.

Victor Lilov ranked second in the world in competition with the best 327 students from 84 countries

In April, Victor already won a gold medal at the International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry held in China.  A few weeks ago, he also won a gold medal at the 35th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held in Kazakhstan.

This makes him the first Bulgarian student to win both the top two international biology and chemistry awards simultaneously.
