Speaker of Bulgarian Parliament refuses to be caretaker PM

"The most important thing for a caretaker prime minister is to ensure that fair and transparent elections are held and well-known political faces will not bring credibility to the process." This is what Speaker of Parliament Raya Nazaryan from GERB said at a meeting with President Rumen Radev at his invitation in the search for Bulgaria's next caretaker prime minister.

The formation of a caretaker cabinet came about after the ITN earlier today returned an unfulfilled third mandate for forming a cabinet.

Nazaryan confirmed what she had said a few days ago that she was refusing the post of caretaker prime minister so that there would be a level playing field and equal opportunity for all participants in the upcoming election campaign, which is due to take place once the next snap general elections are scheduled.
