Caretaker interior minister alleges PP/DB MP is interfering in the work of the special services

Caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov accused Bozhidar Bozhanov, MP from We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB) of arrogant political interference in the work of the Interior Ministry.
Kalin Stoyanov
Kalin Stoyanov told reporters that on 14 August Bozhidar Bozhanov called up the director of the Cybersecurity directorate of the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime to demand information regarding materials connected with a specific investigation. In his words, PP/DB do not want him to stay on as minister in the new caretaker cabinet because he is a “guarantor that no such interference will be allowed in the work of the ministry structures”.

Kalin Stoyanov has not received an invitation, as yet, to be part of the caretaker cabinet of nominee for caretaker PM Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva.
Bozhidar Bozhanov
Bozhidar Bozhanov stated, in answer to the accusations, that Kalin Stoyanov had used work contacts in an inadmissible way to turn them into political intrigue. “As you know a satirical website appeared – Novo Nachalo (New Beginning) – which was created by youth activists from Yes, Bulgaria. After it was taken down, we found out, from the hosting company, that this had been done on orders by the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime, and the hosting company declined any other information. That is the reason why I called the head of Cybercrime, with whom we have maintained working communication for years, to ask him whether the young people had committed any offence. I was not given any such information. What Kalin Stoyanov is now doing is morally unsound – to be using longtime staff and experts from the Interior Ministry for political intrigues and to try to keep his post”.
