The poster exhibition "The Armor of the Thracian Warriors" opens today in Kazanlak as part of the Festivals in the Valley of the Thracian Kings. It is the result of a joint scientific project of the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at BAS and the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

The exhibition includes sixteen posters presenting the richness, variety and craftsmanship of Thracian offensive, defensive and parade weaponry. The highlight are items from the military graves near the village of Mezek, the Mogilan Mound in Vratsa, the Great Mound near the villages of Malamirovo and Zlatinitsa, the stone tomb from Agighiol, Southern Romania, the weaponry from the Great Cosmatka Mound, the inventory from the burial mound near the village of Dolna Koznitsa and the Svetitsa mound near Shipka, the National Archaeological Institute pointed out.

The objects provide information on the military work of the Thracians, on the funeral rites of their aristocratic elite, on the craftsmanship of jewellers, on the religious beliefs, aesthetic perceptions and preferences of Thracian society.
