After the Central Electoral Commission refused the registration of the two factions of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms party (DPS) with coalitions of DPS, the leader Ahmed Dogan and chairman Jevdet Chakarov submitted documents for independent participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The DPS office with leader Ahmed Dogan adds that the documents are supported by 5,240 signatures.

Shortly afterwards, the DPS faction led by Delyan Peevski demanded the withdrawal of Dogan's application for the party's independent participation in the elections. The demand was made through MP Hamid Hamid, who had been authorised by Peevski. According to the DPS statutes, the two leaders have the right to represent the party both jointly and separately.
