Sofia, Vidin host the 7th International Conference on the Roman Danubian Provinces

85 European archaeologists meet in Bulgaria to discuss "Frontier Landscapes along the Danube"

From 23 to 28 September, Sofia and Vidin will host the 7th International Conference on the Roman Danubian Provinces on the theme "Frontier Landscapes along the Danube", reports BNR Vidin. The initiative was taken by the University of Ferrara, Italy.

"We have the honour of hosting the conference because we have the largest share of the Danube Limes among all countries - over 570 kilometres," explained Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zdravko Dimitrov from the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM-BAS).



The discussions, attended by 85 archaeologists from across Europe, will focus on new developments in the study of the landscapes of the Danube provinces, religious practices, numismatics and epigraphy, as well as field data from recent excavations in the Danube area.
