"Stolichen Avtotransport's accounts have been frozen since yesterday, according to mayor Vasil Terziev. He warned that if the company ceased operations, Sofia would be left without public transport.

"Deputy Mayor for Finance Ivan Vasilev, like the good fairy, must once again find a solution to save this company," Vasil Terziev said, referring to the BGN 20 million (EUR 10.2 million) debt accumulated over the years.

Boris Bonev, a PP-DB municipal councillor, said that the problem that led to the freezing of the account dated back to December 2020, when he himself reported to the State Financial Inspectorate on the "outrageously expensive repairs" to the dormitory for public transport workers in the Druzhba district. Later, the company hired to renovate the building filed a lawsuit for unpaid funds.
