Minister Ivan Kondov:

Good neighbourly relations are essential in the EU enlargement process

European integration is the best way to guarantee and promote peace, security, democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the interest of the citizens of the countries part of the enlargement process. This position was expressed by caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov in New York during the informal breakfast of ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the Central European Initiative, hosted by the Albanian presidency of the format.

The discussion focused on the renewed momentum for European Union enlargement amid new geopolitical circumstances and continuing Russian aggression against Ukraine.

In his speech, Ivan Kondov pointed out that regional cooperation and good neighborly relations play an essential role in the preparations and are a cornerstone in the enlargement process. He also said that he looks forward to seeing all the applicant countries as full members of the EU.
