Bulgaria seeks alternatives to evacuate citizens from Lebanon

Another evacuation flight from Lebanon to Bulgaria would be risky and almost impossible to organise, said Bulgaria's ambassador in Beirut, Iassen Tomov. Alternative options are being considered to bring the Bulgarian citizens home. On Tuesday, 169 Bulgarians were evacuated from Lebanon on two flights.
"There is a steady flow - at any given time we have between 25 and 30 people who want to leave Lebanon. One option is flights organised by other partner and allied countries for their citizens. We are also looking at ways to evacuate them by sea," the ambassador said in an interview with BNR. He added that preparations were underway for the departure of 10-12 Bulgarians on a Canadian flight, with embassy staff working around the clock.
Chat groups have been set up for Bulgarians in Lebanon and there is a constant flow of information.

Iassen Tomov also said that the situation remained tense and unpredictable as shelling continued in Beirut neighbourhoods, mainly in the southern suburbs.
