The town of Sevlievo is famous for its pumpkins. The delicious fruit is grown in abundance in this part of northern Bulgaria.

It is no coincidence that the locals have dedicated a special festival to pumpkins, which takes place as part of the Sevlievo Autumn Fair. This year the festival began on October 7 with a fun workshop called "Pumpkin Multicolour Fantasies".

The festivities will end on 14 October, the Bulgarian Day of St. Petka, when Sevlievo celebrates its Town Day.

Culinary workshops, sports shows, a travelling festival "The Street", a traditional pumpkin horo dance and a gathering of Bulgarian folk dance clubs are just a small part of the lavish programme.

On Sunday 13 October, there will be a concert on the main stage in Svoboda Square. There will be fun games for young and old, workshops, music, dancing, prizes and surprises.
The Pumpkin Festival in Sevlievo is the culmination of the traditional Autumn Fair in the town, which has a long history - it was first held in 1922, was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and has an important role in the development of the economy of the Sevlievo region.
