According to the e 2024 EU Convergence Reports, Bulgaria meets three of the four criteria for membership in the Eurozone, namely: stability of public finances (budget balance and public debt), the exchange rate and the long-term interest rate.

''Once Bulgaria fulfills the final criterion—price stability, extraordinary Convergence Reports will be requested immediately from the European Commission and the European Central Bank'', caretaker Premier Dimitar Glavchev told journalists in Brussels regarding Bulgaria’s Eurozone membership. Dimitar Glavchev expressed hope that the country will meet this criterion by the end of the year. He clarified that the National Statistical Institute data from August confirms the trend of slowing inflation in the country.
