520 students from the Bulgarian community in Ukraine have been admitted as freshmen to higher education institutions in Bulgaria for this academic year. Another 34 people have enrolled in master's degree programs and 8 people have been accepted in PhD programmes, it transpired at a meeting between caretaker Minister of Education and Science Professor Galin Tsokov and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk, said the Education Ministry.
Ambassador Ilashchuk thanked for the opportunity given to young Ukrainian citizens to study at Bulgarian universities in the same way as Bulgarian students.There are currently 400 places available for Ukrainian students with temporary protection status, who have completed high school in Bulgaria and wish to continue their higher education in this country. Ambassador Ilashchuk noted that efforts are being made for the quicker approval by Kyiv of two agreements proposed by Bulgaria- on cooperation and exchange between the education ministries of the two countries, and on the Georgi Sava Rakovski Bolhrad High School.
