During the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Luxembourg, Bulgaria and the other 26 EU Member States supported the request that the future Common Agricultural Policy after 2027 should resolve the issue of unfair distribution of payments in the sector.

The Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Tahov, presented to the council a joint declaration by Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, in which they call for convergence of direct payments in the EU countries, because discrepancies lead to unequal market conditions. Bulgaria supported Romania's request to increase the individual ceiling of amounts under the so-called Ukrainian aid to EUR 560,000 per beneficiary and extend the implementation until 2025 at least. The country also supported Slovakia's request to extend by 12 months the deadline for absorbing the money under the European programs for the period 2014 to 2022, BTA and BGNES reported.
