Trend: 15% of Bulgarians willing to foster

Photo: Archive

Only 15% of Bulgarians would become foster parents, 68% would definitely not and 17% could not decide. This is the result of a survey conducted by Trend Agency on the occasion of Foster Parents' Day.

The reasons for the negative attitudes vary, but the main factor is a lack of information and understanding about the process of fostering. Women are more likely to become foster carers than men - 21% versus 9%, according to the survey. 60% of those who said they would be willing to foster would do so regardless of whether they were paid.
