Slavi Trifonov, leader of There Is Such a People (ITN) declared he would sign the declaration of We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB), with which the coalition calls for a cordon sanitaire around the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms-New Beginning Delyan Peevski and his parliamentary group, provided PP/DB signs a declaration by ITN for clearing away the “dead souls” from the electoral registers. This is necessary so as to make the election process legitimate and acceptable to the Bulgarian citizens, Slavi Trifonov says.
During the week, PP/DB’s idea of putting up a cordon sanitaire around Delyan Peevski was also commented by Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov who stated that in exchange for their declaration he would send them two of his draft decisions – for calling a referendum for the preservation of the Bulgarian Lev, and for preserving the coal-fired power plants, the mining and the coal industry.
“The attitude to the issues raised in the declaration by We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria, and other issues of importance to the country should be discussed with a sense of responsibility during talks, consultations and negotiations, not with declarations, conditions or incantations,” GERB/SDS which won the 27 October parliamentary election commented on Facebook.
