Employers are contesting the rise of the minimum wage. The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association announced that they filed a complaint in the Supreme Administrative Court. About 430,000 people in the country work for minimum wage. The executive director of the association, Dobrin Ivanov, told BNR that there are two types of reasons for the complaint. The procedural ones are that the government incorrectly calculated the increase from EUR 470 to EUR 543, without the hike being in accordance with international acts that Bulgaria has ratified. The association also claims that 2025 “will be special in terms of the labor market and incomes. The reasons for this are the state of the economy of Bulgaria, the EU and the world," Ivanov says.
