Bulgarian metallurgy and mining industry have a chance for development in the EU

Metallurgy, heavy and mining industry are an irrevocable part of the full-fledged economic development of Europe. This was stated by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev at the solemn celebration of the Metallurgist's Day in Sofia, which was held under the patronage of the head of state.

Radev added that this provided a huge chance for Bulgaria to position itself in these processes and to contribute to the future of Europe.

The EU lived with the naive belief that it would continue to close mines and its extractive industries, that it would continue to import cheap, affordable critical and energy raw materials from outside, that it would continue to export its heavy industry and metallurgy, and that Europe would only develop high, green, digital technologies and know-how. But the crises that shook Europe - Covid-19, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, pulled Europe out of this sweet slumber, commented Radev.
