Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov submitted a request to the 51st National Assembly to lift the immunity of MP Dzheyhan Ibryamov from the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms. The MP has been charged with two crimes.
The first, dating back to 2019, involves the receipt of 20,000 BGN in exchange for influencing an employee of the Ministry of Health to issue a permit for the market release of a group of biocides.
The second charge is related to the discovery of 100,000 BGN in marked banknotes found in his possession at the beginning of October this year. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, this amount is part of the 400,000 BGN that Ibryamov allegedly requested from the witness Miroslav Todorov, in exchange for influencing officials in the Ministry of Defense when making decisions on public procurement contracts.
Ibryamov's initial charge, for which he spent over a month in detention, was for influence peddling. The investigation against him was suspended two days ago because he acquired immunity after he was elected a member of parliament.
