A charity bazaar with items made by people who are homeless, children at risk and children with special needs is taking place today in the Catholic church St. Paul of the Cross in Rousse.
At the fundraiser, organized by Caritas, visitors will be able to choose among handmade decorations, candles and soap. Teams from the charity Catholic organization work with people of different age, living in an unfavorable environment and with specific needs.
Kremena Tsaneva from the organization said the event was being organized to mark Caritas Day – “an annual initiative by all people working for the organization in Bulgaria aimed at bringing attention to the people pushed to the periphery of the world and of life, abandoned and forgotten in their suffering.”
The day is marked on the first Sunday after 13 November when the Catholic church in Bulgaria honours the memory of the blessed Bulgarian martyrs Eugene Bossilkov, Kamen Vichev, Pavel Djidjov and Josaphat Shishkov, executed by the communist authorities. Caritas Day is also connected with the world Day of the Poor, declared by Pope Francis.
