On November 18, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency will begin vaccinating foxes against rabies. The autumn oral vaccination is part of the Program for the prevention, control and eradication of rabies. It has been developed and implemented by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency since 2009. The vaccination campaign is carried out along the northern, western and southern land borders of the country, as well as in the 20-kilometer zone along the Danube River and covers 23 districts.

Specially equipped airplanes will disperse around 1.5 million baits from the air, while in no-fly areas the vaccines will be placed manually. Bulgaria's strategy for the prevention and eradication of the disease includes oral vaccination of foxes and annual vaccination of dogs.
