The Ambassador of Austria H.E. Andrea Ikić-Böhm visited the Bulgarian-Turkish border yesterday at the invitation of the Director of the Border Police Directorate General, the press service of the Ministry of Interior announced today. Together with the Director, Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, she visited the Capitan Andreevo border checkpoint and the green border to see the progress made since her last visit.

The Austrian Ambassador also met with officers from the permanent corps of the Border and Coast Guard Agency - Frontex, including Austrian police officers, with whom she discussed their joint work with their Bulgarian counterparts.

Bulgaria expects Austria to lift its veto on the full accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the Schengen area. The veto is due to Austria's concerns about the growth of irregular migration.
