Foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Albania reaffirm support for accelerated construction of Corridor 8

Bulgaria’s caretaker Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov and his Albanian counterpart Igli Hasani confirmed the firm commitment of the two countries to the accelerated construction of transport Corridor 8.

The two held a bilateral meeting as part of the meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the Central European Initiative in Tirana.

Ivan Kondov congratulated Igli Hasani on the progress achieved in putting through the European reforms, including protection of the rights of the national minorities. The Albanian side expressed appreciation for Bulgaria’s consistent support for the process of Albania’s accession to the EU.

At the ministerial meeting, the Bulgarian foreign minister reaffirmed Bulgaria’s strong support for the EU policy of enlargement in observance of the principle of own merits.
