The Varna Regional Library "Pencho Slaveykov" has acquired a humanoid robot. It was unveiled by the library's director, Radka Kalcheva, during the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the library's American Corner, in the presence of Eric Brasel, the cultural and educational attaché of the US Embassy in Bulgaria.

Emma, the first humanoid robot in a Bulgarian library, is part of the "STEAM Career Orientation for Gen Z Leaders of the Future" project supported by the US Embassy in Bulgaria. Emma's main purpose is educational. She is bilingual, speaking both Bulgarian and English. Her main role is to give presentations, sharing information both verbally and on her built-in screen. Emma can also engage the audience in interactive games. During her debut, the robot showed off her dancing skills and gave a short presentation on oceanography.

The robot will soon be loaded with additional information to maximise its usefulness, BTA reported.
