President Radev expects the court to rule on his appeal regarding the changes to the Constitution

President Rumen Radev expects the Constitutional Court to rule more quickly on his appeal regarding the changes to the Constitution. The head of state made this statement in front of students at the University of National and World Economy, where he delivered a lecture on the prospects and challenges facing young people in the country. He emphasized that politicians must be extremely careful when initiating changes to the Constitution. "We are now in a paradoxical situation. The authors of these changes are complaining about themselves because of the amendments", said Rumen Radev.

According to the amendments proposed by the parliament, if a regular government is not formed, the President selects a caretaker premier from among the Speaker of the National Assembly, the governor or deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, the chairman or deputy chairman of the National Audit Office and the Ombudsman or their deputy.

Before the amendments, the caretaker prime minister was selected at the president's personal discretion. The caretaker government is tasked with organizing the early parliamentary elections.

The inability of Parliament to elect a speaker for the ninth time leads the general public in the country to think that the country is heading toward new elections.
