At the consultations with President Radev

Vazrazhdane party states readiness to form government if given 3rd mandate

At today's consultations with President Rumen Radev on forming a government within the 51st National Assembly, the leader of the nationalist Vazrazhdane party, Kostadin Kostadinov, said that if Vazrazhdane was given a third mandate to form a government, it would be ready to propose a cabinet that would work "for the prosperity" of Bulgaria and not "for its survival".

According to Kostadinov, the first two mandates (from GERB-SDS and PP-DB respectively) would result in either something seriously immoral or something that would prolong the agony of the status quo. According to Kostadinov, the main priorities of the ruling party should be to save the country's energy system and to tackle the drought and water regime that some regions are facing.

"At the moment we are working on adopting a budget that is subservient to the fetish of eurozone membership. In the name of this fetish, the interests of millions of Bulgarians are being sacrificed - the capital programmes of municipalities are being restricted, and we are against this," Kostadinov said, commenting on the budget for 2025 proposed by the caretaker government.

According to the Constitution, the first exploratory mandate goes to the first parliamentary group, the second to the second and the third to a parliamentary group of the president's choice.
