Increased traffic is expected on the country's roads during the weekend. During peak hours, 1,500 cars per hour will pass on the highways. A special traffic organization has been introduced on the Hemus highway.

Traffic for heavy trucks through the Troyan Pass, as well as trucks with trailers and semi-trailers through the Rozhen and Prevala passes, has been temporarily restricted due to snow removal, the road agency announced.

On Saturday, December 21, at 11.22 a.m., astronomical winter will begin. The daylight hours will last 8 hours, and the longest night will be 16 hours. Winter comes with rain, which will gradually turn into snow in the Western Rhodopes, the lower parts of the Balkan Range and the Ludogorie region.

First-degree warnings for snowfall have been introduced in Western Bulgaria.

Significant precipitation is also expected in Central and Eastern Bulgaria. A yellow precipitation code has been issued for 22 districts in the country.
