The sculpture “Sand Nativity in Burgas”, which artists Paul and Remy Hoggard are sculpting in the center of Burgas in front of the people of the city, will be ready for Christmas Eve and will remain there until January 7, 2025.
The artists recreate one of the most popular scenes in the Christian world – the Nativity of Christ, depicting the Holy Virgin Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus with the help of 10 tons of sand. The two say they are in love with Burgas and its people and thank everyone who supports them and encourages their plans for sand art.
“We have many more ideas, one of which is a sand museum about the history of Bulgaria and Burgas”, the artists say. They invite everyone who wants to be part of the sand festival and share the emotion of Christmas to come to the square opposite the city hall.
Paul and Remy Hoggard are freelance artists who, in recent years, have created sand sculptures of historical figures such as Vasil Levski, Hristo Botev, Cyril and Methodius, as well as a cross for Epiphany, a huge figure of an elephant and other animals on the beach of Burgas. They also organize workshops for children.
