The 13-year-old boy with Down syndrome from the village of Konare (Stara Zagora district) has been missing for eight days now, caretaker Minister of Interior Atanas Ilkov said. In his words, all necessary actions have been taken to search for the child together with the mayor of the village and the Municipality of Gurkovo.

Nikolay has been missing since December 17. According to his mother, Denka Ilieva, everything happened in minutes. In her words, the boy is trustful and would have gone with a stranger. On Sunday, the family’s dog, which had gone missing at the same time as the child, was found. It took the parents to a nearby dam.

Starting today, 106 military personnel from the Land Forces will join the search at the request of the Minister of Interior. They will conduct search operations in the area of Gurkovo with the help of six all-terrain vehicles, four drones and thermal imaging cameras. The police are working on all possible versions.
