Non-governmental organizations are cleaning two of the beaches on the Southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast.

The Clean Christmas campaign under the motto "A Clean Home for the Inhabitants of the Black Sea" is being organized for the seventh consecutive year within the framework of the WIND2WIN initiative to clean up the Black Sea.

For two consecutive days, environmentalists from LessPlastic Bulgaria and the Akasha Surf School are organizing the cleaning of the Arkutino beaches - on December 28 and in the town of Ahtopol on the 29th. The organizers' goal is to give a gift to nature during the holidays, between Christmas and New Year, just as we give gifts to our loved ones.

Last year, when 96 people participated in the campaign, over 580 kilograms of waste were collected on Arkutino beach alone. Between 10 and 15% of all waste comes from Turkey and Romania, which ends up on the Bulgarian beaches through sea currents or is thrown away during shipping.
