“We shall allocate 2 million Leva (around EUR 1 million), as promised to the people affected by the power outages. More than 20,000 households will benefit from this assistance. We are doing this to show that the state is doing its job,” said caretaker PM Dimitar Glavchev at the beginning of today’s cabinet sitting which will be the last for 2024.
Dimitar Glavchev stated further that this money must be separate from the compensations that will be paid out by the energy distribution companies. “The money we are paying out has nothing to do with the compensations that have to be paid by the companies,” PM Glavchev said, and added that an inquiry has been initiated into all investment programmes of the energy distribution companies. “The authorities cannot just sit and watch even though we are a caretaker government,” Dimitar Glavchev said.
