The Marine Strategy of Bulgaria for the period 2022-2027 and updated Management Plans for the Danube, Black Sea, East Aegean and West Aegean River Basins and national programs for their implementation have been adopted by the Council of Ministers. Thus, Bulgaria fulfills the requirements under two European directives, under which infringement procedures have been initiated.

With the adoption of the Marine Strategy and the Program of Measures until 2027, the country fulfills the requirements of Brussels and Sofia expects the infringement procedure against Bulgaria to be closed by the European Commission, BTA reports.

The adopted plans and the Marine Strategy are leading to the achievement of the goals of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive for achieving and maintaining the good status of the EU marine environment.
