Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev has ordered immediate measures to ensure smooth border crossing at Ruse, the Council of Ministers' press service said. The reorganisation of traffic is necessary to avoid bottlenecks and to apply the Schengen rules.

The Prime Minister discussed the issue of free passage across the Danube Bridge with Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov, Regional Development Minister Violeta Koritarova and Transport Minister Krasimira Stoyanova, as well as with Customs Agency Director Georgi Dimov and Ruse Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the Danube Bridge overhaul work will resume on 8 January. As planned, 413 m of the lane towards Romania in the trestle section of the facility will be temporarily closed for the works.
