Armenians celebrate Christmas Eve on January 5. On this occasion, a pre-holiday service will be held in the Armenian Church in Sofia. Pomegranates ("nur orkhnek") will be consecrated, which will be distributed to the laity after the service.

The festive table is laden with an odd number of Armenian specialties. Traditional dishes are tafsos dolma - dolma stuffed with bulgur and sauerkraut, dolma with vine leaves and lemon, ashure - "anoush-abour" with raisins, boiled, peeled almonds and rose water, "burma borek" - hand-rolled twisted baklava, oshav.

On January 6, the Armenian Church will celebrate the Nativity and Epiphany of Jesus Christ (Christmas/Surp Dzununt) with a festive service. The consecration of water with myrrh ("meron tap") will be performed, symbolizing the baptism of Jesus.
