For the fourth consecutive year, the literacy and spelling platform "How to Spell" is searching for the word that best describes the past 365 days of 2024. "Anyone can make their suggestions, even if they repeat – just write them", urges Dolly Nikolova, a Bulgarian philology expert from the project.
The selection of Bulgarian words of the year starts on January 6 and ends on January 20. ''Anyone can suggest a word or phrase in the first stage of the campaign which ends on January 10. In the second week, the jury will select the 10 most frequently suggested words for the final poll", says Dolly Nikolova. From January 13 to 18, every participant in the survey will be able to vote for up to 3 of the 10 words. The most popular words for 2023 were "artificial intelligence" with 45%, "assemblage" with 37% and "time shelter" with 35% with of the votes.
