A scientific team with Bulgarian participation has shown the presence of three exoplanets in one of the most interesting multi-planet systems discovered to date, the Bulgarian National Television has reported. The planetary system is located 1,100 light-years from Earth, around the star TOI-4504 in the constellation Kiel.

A statement from the team at the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" states that the new discovery has been published in the prestigious journal Astrophysical Journal Letters, with the participation of Bulgarian astronomer Dr. Trifon Trifonov. He is a scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany, and a researcher at the Department of Astronomy at the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

Dr. Trifonov is the head of the Bulgarian exoplanet search group within the EXO-RESTART project, supported by the Scientific Research Fund under the national scientific program "Top Research and People for the Development of European Science" 2021. "The study of TOI-4504 is important for the analysis of the evolution of such exoplanetary systems," notes Dr. Trifonov, who performed a significant part of the data analysis.

Scientists hope to make more such discoveries in the future, which will further enrich astronomers' knowledge of the formation of various planetary systems as a whole.
