In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, President Rumen Radev will today hand over a mandate for forming a government to the candidate for Prime Minister, nominated by the largest parliamentary group in the 51st National Assembly - that of GERB-SDS. The parliamentary elections took place on October 27, 2024. President Radev decided to give the parties more time for negotiations before handing over the first cabinet-forming mandate, hoping that ''the negotiators realize that their responsibility is not only to their own party and voters, but to the whole nation".

Rosen Zhelyazkov, nominated by GERB-SDS for prime minister, said yesterday that they would go to the President with a list of names for ministers if the necessary majority for a government is secured.
