Rosen Zhelyazkov: High-quality education and healthcare will be the priority of the new government

The quality of life of people with a focus on education and healthcare – this will be the priority of the new government, announced the nominee for Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov from GERB-SDS. He pointed out as other important tasks the rule of law, sustainable finances, a balanced budget, membership in the Eurozone.

“Bulgaria needs a government that will protect the social rights of citizens, because the country is in a political crisis, in a crisis of confidence, because citizens and businesses need support due to the serious challenges and risks, because of the need for a convincing constitutional response,” said Rosen Zhelyazkov.

“We are a right-wing party and the responsible behavior towards Bulgarian citizens is to have a government that can save the country from the total ruin into which “We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria” threw it with its rule,” said the chairman of the parliamentary group of ITN Toshko Yordanov.

President Rumen Radev also commented after the election of the cabinet: “This is a very diverse and complex government of the country, the horizon of this government depends on the awareness of everyone in it that they must work, above all, for the national interest and defend their independence from political and economic circles with a clear interest in power, in the judiciary.” He added that Bulgaria needs a stable majority that can defend our national interest abroad and improve living conditions in the country. 

Before the start of the parliamentary session, at which the new government is expected to be elected, MPs from political formations that announced that they would remain in opposition made comments.

“There are many people who could potentially be dependent on Delyan Peevski. I am afraid that “DPS – New Beginning” can play the role of opposition, but in fact be the ruling party”, said the co-chairman of “We Continue the Change” Kiril Petkov.

“This government will not accomplish anything. There must be a government, but the “New Beginning” one, and it is coming soon”, said the deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of “DPS – New Beginning” Hamid Hamid.

“Four years after the protests, today the “Borisov” model is returning again. There are proxies of Delyan Peevski in the cabinet; “There is such a people” and the BSP do not exist after today”, said the leader of “Moral, Unity, Honor” (MECH party) Radostin Vassilev.
